Frequently Asked Questions
What is an asynchronous course?
An asynchronous course is an online learning format that allows you to study independently, without attending live sessions. All learning materials (videos, readings, activities, quizzes) are available on the platform, so you can access them whenever it is convenient for you. This format is ideal for learners who balance learning with work, family or other commitments, as it offers flexibility without compromising the quality of the learning experience. You can spend more time on topics you find challenging and move faster through areas you are already familiar with. This flexibility supports personalised learning and helps you better integrate the course into your daily routine.
Do I need to be online at specific times?
No. Asynchronous courses do not require you to be online at specific times or attend live classes. You can log in and study whenever it suits your personal schedule. Some courses may suggest a learning timeline or weekly structure to help you organise your time effectively, but you remain free to adapt your learning pace to your availability.
How long do I have access to the course?
You will have access to the course content for the full duration of the course, or for as long as it takes you to finish it. Any limitations on access duration will be clearly communicated before enrolment.
Do I need any special equipment or software?
No, specialised equipment is not required. You only need a computer, tablet or smartphone with a stable internet connection and a modern web browser. All learning materials are accessible directly through the platform. If any additional tools or downloadable resources are required for specific activities, this will be clearly explained within the course.
What kind of learning materials will the course include?
Asynchronous courses typically combine a variety of learning materials to support different learning styles. These may include short video lectures, written texts, practical exercises, reflective activities, quizzes, case studies and downloadable resources. The combination of formats aims to keep learning engaging, practical and relevant to real-life or professional contexts.
What happens if I fall behind or take a break?
You will have access to the course content for the full duration of the course, or for as long as it takes you to finish it. Any limitations on access duration will be clearly communicated before enrolme
How do I get a certificate?
To receive your certificate of completion, you need to successfully fulfil the course requirements. In most cases, this means that you will need to:
• Mark at least 90% of the course steps as complete, confirming that you have worked through the learning materials and activities.
• Attempt all tests and test questions, where the course includes quizzes or self-assessment activities. This helps ensure that you have engaged with the key learning points of the course.
• Achieve an overall score of at least 70%, for courses that include graded tests or other scored assessments.
Once these criteria are met, your certificate will become available for download directly from the platform.
I can't find the course I am looking for; do you offer it?
If you are looking for a course on a specific topic, the easiest thing to do is to search by keyword, which you can do by clicking on the search bar at the top of our platform. If nothing comes up when you search for a keyword, that means we do not have a course on that topic yet. We have many courses on EELI, but there are only so many things we can cover! You can also browse courses by category on our Course Categories page.
Who can I contact if I need support during the course?
Most of our courses are offered in an asynchronous format, which means they are not monitored by an educator in real time or on a continuous basis. However, this does not mean you are left without support. If you experience technical difficulties or have questions about the learning content, you can contact the platform’s support team via email info@eeli.edu.gr.
